The identification code is an integral element of the personal documentation of a citizen of Ukraine. Together with the passport, the TIN is requested for most financial and administrative transactions. Today, the identification code is drawn up as a separate document indicating the code itself and information about the taxpayer. Many citizens note that the format of the document is not very convenient – paper is often lost and needs to be restored. This problem can now be resolved. The SFS revised the procedure for issuing an identification code and decided on the possibility of entering it directly into the passport.

What will the TIN record look like?

Traditionally, the identification code is issued in the form of a taxpayer registration card. Now individuals can contact the SFS service with a request to transfer information about the TIN to the passport. According to the statement of the fiscal service, the identification number will be indicated on the seventh, eighth or ninth page of the passport.

According to the SFS employees, such an innovation is possible both for those who already have a drawn up and issued code, and for new taxpayers. The form by which information about the TIN number will be entered is described in detail in the Regulations on the registration of individuals.

What will change after the introduction of the innovation?

Elionorum believes that the new format of the identification code will have a positive effect on the procedure for processing other documents. First of all, this is argued by the fact that now it is enough to present a passport to carry out any operation. There is no need to make a copy of the TIN code, since all the information is contained in one document. Thus, the passport of a citizen of Ukraine acts as a full-fledged document for such procedures as:

• Opening a bank account;
• Loan processing;
• Buying and selling a car or real estate;
• Admission to an educational institution;
• Car registration;
• Starting a business;

It should be noted that an individual can enter the identification code at his own request. The procedure is optional. The previous TIN number format remains valid.

To fix the identification code in the passport, you must:

• Contact the tax office at your place of residence;
• Submit an application for entering information into the passport;
• Obtain the corresponding entry in the passport.

The procedure is quite simple and does not take much time. According to the Elionorum lawyers, the modern format of the identification code is a successful implementation by the fiscal service, which simplifies many legal operations in Ukraine.
